Gorka Marquez has left fans shedding ‘instant tears’ as she shared a video of Gemma Atkinson she ‘didn’t know’ he had taken of her. The couple, who met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 before love blossomed the following year, have been reflecting on a year since the heartbreaking loss of their dog, Norman. Hits Radio host Gemma was devastated last June when she had to say goodbye to her beloved pooch. Confirming Norman’s death last summer, days before her daughter Mia’s fifth birthday, Gemma said: “My beautiful boy Norman has passed away. “My heart is broken,” alongside a moving video featuring pictures and clips of him from over the years with her and their other dog Ollie, as well as Gorka and their two children, Mia and one-year-old Thiago. The family then suffered more heartache just months later, Gemma confirmed on December 10 that Ollie had been reunited with Norman, leaving her heartbroken. Sharing a video full of pictures and videos from over the years featuring Ollie as well as Norman, the Bury-born star wrote to her two million followers: “Sleep well beautiful Ollie… “The sadness of losing you both so close together is a lot, but I know you’re both somewhere running free in long grass or on a beach chasing the tide care free, pain free and happy. That’s what I’m taking comfort in right now. I’ll remember you for the rest of my life. Norman and Ollie. My 2 best boys. Reunited.” It was then on Saturday (June 28) that Gorka marked a year since they lost Norman. The dancer shared a video of his fiancee with Norman sitting together in the garden and shared the sad poignancy behind the clip. Gorka wrote in the caption of the post: “I filmed this video the evening before we said good bye to Norman. Gemma was unaware of me filming her. “Kids were in bed and I was in the gym but I look out of window and I saw her sat in there with Norms by her side. I could hear her crying looking at him knowing she wouldnt have another moment like that again. “The bond the love this trust between them was unique and if there is something I Learn from her is the love for dogs( well any animal) TBH. What is funny is that a year later we have BENJI with us and every night he loves to sat outside in the garden followed by Gemma and is this exact same spot…. We miss you Norms.” Gemma responded to the post, admitting: “I didn’t know you had this,” alongside a face holding back tears emoji and a red love heart. A number of Gorka’s Strictly co-stars were quick to flood the comments with heart emojis while fans shared their messages. @nat3891 said: “Instant tears.” @rachc1980 commented: “Oh man I wasn’t ready for this. So far, today has been the best day of 2025… Welcome to the family Benji Marquez.” Gemma has since posted her own video, in which Benji could be seen being fussed by Thiago alongside the caption: “The dog I have now…” before another clip showed Thiago with Norman and Ollie. Alongside the post, Gemma wrote: “You sent another Angel because you knew i needed one. Thank you Norman & Ollie… Let the fun begin with Benji”
