Golf Returns to Tuscany: the Italian Open is coming back to Tuscany for the first time in 42 years. From June 26 to 29, the 82nd edition of the tournament will be held at the Argentario Golf Club in Monte Argentario, in the province of Grosseto. This prestigious event, celebrating 100 years since the first Italian Open, will feature 156 players and a prize purse of $3 million, with $552,500 awarded to the winner.

Among the participants are five top-ranked players from the Race to Dubai standings, including John Parry (UK), Kristoffer Reitan (Norway), Daniel Hillier (New Zealand), Martin Couvra (France), and Shaun Norris (South Africa). The tournament, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sport, will be played over 72 holes鈥18 each day鈥攁nd will offer two coveted qualification spots for The Open Championship, the oldest major in the world.

Admission to the event is free, and organizers expect thousands of fans, media, and industry professionals to converge on the Tuscan coast. 鈥淭his is a historic event that will generate strong benefits for tourism and the local economy,鈥 said Cristiano Cerchiai, president of the Italian Golf Federation.

Golf in Tuscany: A Growing Attraction

Tuscany has steadily become a top destination for golf lovers, with over 30 courses scattered throughout the region. The Maremma area, in particular, offers a striking combination of rolling hills, Mediterranean landscapes, and high-level facilities. The Argentario Golf Club, a PGA National Italy course and part of the exclusive European Tour Destinations network, is a par-71 course surrounded by olive groves and with panoramic views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Orbetello Lagoon.

Other notable Tuscan golf destinations include the Golf Club Castelfalfi in the heart of the Chianti countryside, the historic Ugolino Golf Club near Florence, and the luxurious Terme di Saturnia Golf Club in southern Tuscany.

The return of the Italian Open to Tuscany marks a milestone for both Italian golf and regional tourism. With its unique blend of sport, entertainment, and natural beauty, the tournament is set to highlight not only the talents of international golfers but also the cultural and environmental richness of the region.
