Holidaymakers and other travellers are being warned of major flight delays and cancellations in July. People are being asked to prepare for “significant disruption” as a series of air traffic control and airport worker strikes roll out across Europe this month. Jessie Chambers, senior travel advisor at Global Work & Travel, has issued a warning for anyone planning to fly to or over any of the affected countries, especially France, where airspace restrictions may also impact non-French flights. READ MORE: “Even if you’re not flying into France, your flight might pass through French airspace,” says Jessie. “We’ve already seen major airlines forced to cancel or reroute hundreds of flights. Travellers need to act fast—check flights, speak to airlines, and prepare for delays.” Several European countries will be affected if your flight is heading to or near airports in the following destinations on the dates below: France Italy and Spain Finland Netherlands Global Work & Travel is urging people to take precautionary steps immediately: “This kind of strike disruption is more than a delay – it can snowball into missed connections, rebooked accommodation, or even visa complications,” added Chambers. “It’s vital people don’t assume they’re unaffected just because their flight doesn’t land in a strike zone.” Under EU Regulation EC261, travellers are entitled to: Travel and aviation experts, including airline CEOs, have called for EU-level reform to prevent repeat annual chaos. “We’re seeing the consequences of a fragmented European airspace,” said Jessie. “This isn’t just about staff pay disputes – it’s about a broken infrastructure that can’t cope with peak-season demand.” Get breaking news on BirminghamLive WhatsApp .
