Simran’s father, Rajesh Kumar, earns a modest living collecting and selling junk in the streets of their village. With four children to raise, financial struggles were constant. Yet, Rajesh Kumar always dreamt of a better life for his daughters through education and Simran took that dream to heart.
Cracking IIT At 17
Simran’s academic journey took a significant turn when, at just 17, she cleared the IIT entrance exam in her very first attempt. She gained admission to IIT Mandi, where she pursued Electrical Engineering and worked relentlessly toward her goals.
After graduating, Simran knew breaking into the tech world would be tough, most software roles favour computer science graduates. Refusing to be discouraged, she self-taught coding and computer science fundamentals, all while focusing on one goal: Microsoft.
Job At Microsoft
Simran’s hard work landed her an internship at Microsoft Hyderabad, where she outperformed expectations. Out of 300 interns, she was declared the best; an achievement that caught the attention of Microsoft’s top leadership.
The head of Microsoft America even travelled to India to personally honour her, marking a proud moment for her family and village.
