Horrified residents looked on as chaos unfolded on a north Glasgow street during a hit-and-run incident where a woman was slapped with a saw.
The incident on Ashgill Road erupted into a violent rammy involving three vehicles, a pedestrian and a saw. Police were called to the scene at around 6.55pm on Monday, June 23, following reports of a targeted hit-and-run involving three vehicles and a male pedestrian.
A 22-year-old man was reportedly struck by a car and later taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. His condition is not currently known.
One eyewitness described the moment the incident spiralled out of control in what police now believe to be a “targeted” attack, the Record reports.
“There were two cars speeding down Ashgill Road, one coming up and one going down, it looked like they were deliberately trying to ram each other,” the resident told the Daily Record. “They smashed into each other and also hit my flatmate’s car.”
The witness added: “I was in the back garden and ran out. Another car was on the corner of Ashgill Place and the other two cars were in the middle of Ashgill Road.
“There were two men who got out one of the cars and another girl who was driving a different car got out. It seemed as if they knew one another.
“I then saw one of the men slap the girl with a saw. She was shouting, ‘He’s just hit me with a saw’. The car that had reversed up Ashgill Place then quickly drove away.”
Police have since launched an investigation and after carrying out enquiries believe it was a “targeted incident”. The force added they do not believe there is any wider threat to the public.
Police said they will keep a presence in the area following the attack.
