Forget Privacy, Google Gemini Will Now Look At Your Text Without Any Permissions

Google is sure to provide us with a lot of AI updates and improvements to the Gemini AI model for enhanced experience. But the question here is the cost that we are paying and going to pay in the future for the same. For all of those who want respect for privacy, there’s a piece of bad news. A Reddit post shared by a user suggested that the company has been sending emails to a few users with updated privacy policies. The mail mentions that Gemini will now be able to help you use Phone, WhatsApp, Messages, and other apps on a device whether the Gemini Apps Activity is on or off. The change will take place starting from July 7 according to the shared post. Now, this comes as a major shocker because, because in first glance, it seems Gemini will have access to all the sensitive information stored on different apps with or without the permission of the users. What Is Actually Happening Right Now? As mentioned in a report published by 9to5Google, the update is not going to cause any privacy concerns, instead, it will make the interface a little better in terms of privacy. The statement by Google meant that the users will be able to use Gemini in Apps like WhatsApp, Utilities, Messages, and Phones even with the Gemini Apps Activity Disabled. However, the catch here is that the data will be saved for up to 72 hours if Gemini Apps Activity is turned off to provide safety and security. Still, whatever the claims of maintaining privacy say this kind of intrusion comes with multiple associated risk factors. It will be interesting to see how the audience reacts to the same when it is rolled out on a global basis.
