An air hostess has slammed passengers who miss an important step before boarding their flight and taking their seat. She claims those who ‘forget’ this unspoken rule should be kicked off the flight. On TikTok, cabin crew veteran Cher, who is known as @cherdallas online, says those who fail to wash themselves before their flight should be ‘imprisoned’. She expressed her frustration by saying: “There is zero reason that I should be smelling a stranger’s body odour Wash yourself. You are going to be shoulder to shoulder with strangers. Show up clean or don’t come at all.” In the comments section, one person concurred, proposing: “A shower plus clean clothes together will stop the stench. If it’s transatlantic with a layover, change into a different clean shirt and use a wet paper towel on your torso in the bathroom stall.” However, some people were quick to mention that unexpected travel setbacks like flight cancellations and dashing through the airport might be why some passengers aren’t as fresh upon arrival. An individual commented: “The body odour thing is absolute. However if they are on this flight [because] another was cancelled or something and they had to sleep at the airport maybe hand out body wipes”. Adding to the discourse, another person noted: “Ever had to run 20 minutes to a connecting flight with luggage in tow? You’ll sweat, my dear, and there may be an odour.” Cher believes there is still a simple solution available for such circumstances. She clapped back: “Wear deodorant? It’s pretty simple, it works in a preventative way.” But for Cher, body odour isn’t the sole annoyance that should be totally banned on flights. She has quite the list of bugbears regarding fellow flyers. She singled out another particularly aggravating habit – blasting audio or video from a mobile device, which is sure to vex any traveller. Cher is firm on the etiquette: “It is no one else’s problem except yours that you didn’t charge you AirPods or you didn’t bring headphones. Why are you making it everyone else’s problem around you?” She went on to say. “I don’t care if your kid is gonna cry that they can’t listen to Coco Melon on full blast. That is less annoying than hearing it off of their iPad.” The cabin crew member doesn’t only have points to make about passengers; her next target is actually other cabin crew members. She observes that many flight attendants tend to go overboard with “a bunch of unnecessary announcements”. Despite understanding that many are outgoing individuals who enjoy socialising, she believes chatting should be kept to face-to-face interactions rather than through the airplane’s intercom. Nevertheless, Cher concedes that some onboard communications are mandatory. She added: “There are basic ones that we are required to make. I simply don’t agree with putting on a whole production unless you are on super fun afternoon flight.” So do you agree with Cher’s brutally honest post? Let us know in the comments section below.
