The summer transfer window is expected to heat up in July once clubs begin to return for pre-season training.
Manchester United have already secured the signing of Matheus Cunha and are keen to sign a goalkeeper, attacking midfielder, central midfielder and a goalkeeper this summer.
And, from Tuesday, July 1, there will be a number of players officially out of contract and available for free transfers and it is perhaps a market United can explore.
With that in mind, we have picked out five of the best players set to be available on a free transfer.
Jonathan David
The Lille forward is the most high profile player set to be available on a free transfer.
The Canada international has been linked with a number of clubs after scoring 25 goals and registering 12 assists last season – with nine of those goals coming in the Champions League.
Juventus are thought to be the favourites for his signature but United have monitored him in the past and could do far worse than the 25-year-old in their bid to solve their goalscoring woes.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
The England international forward was tentatively linked with United last summer and confirmed on Sunday that he will leave Everton when his contract expires tomorrow.
The 28-year-old’s injury record isn’t the greatest but, on his day, he is a proven Premier League goalscorer.
Thomas Partey
Partey is expected to leave Arsenal when his contract expires tomorrow as Brentford captain Christian Norgaard looks set to replace him at the Emirates Stadium.
At 32, he wouldn’t provide any sell-on value but would be a dependable midfield signing after years of proven experience at the top level with both Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.
Kyle Walker- Peters
Despite Southampton’s terrible season, full-back Walker-Peters was one of their top performers.
The 28-year-old England international is a proven Premier League performer and would be a safe bet for any side wanting to improve their full-back options.
Jovic has never managed to hit the goalscoring heights he managed during the 2018/19 season at Eintracht Frankfurt.
His 27-goal haul that season earned him a move to Real Madrid but he never quite managed to secure a regular place in the Los Blancos side.
He left Real for Fiorentina in 2022 and a year later he joined AC Milan. The Serbian international scored 13 goals in 47 appearances in two seasons in Milan and is now available on a free transfer.
While it would be a gamble, Jovic is still only 27 and could rekindle his goalscoring exploits in the right environment.
