Five-day workshop on ‘AI-driven secure critical infrastructure’ begins at NIT-K

A five-day workshop on ‘AI-driven secure critical infrastructure’ began at the National Institute of Technology–Karnataka (NIT-K), Surathkal, on Monday.

Organised by the Cyber Security Research Laboratory of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, 52 participants from across India participated in it.

Speaking at the inaugural session, Maanak Gupta, a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at Tennessee Tech University, U.S., emphasised the importance of preparing the next generation of students and professionals for technological advancements.

“As we advance towards smart cities and communities, critical infrastructure such as nuclear energy, hospitals, transportation, and interconnected ecosystems must be secure,” he stated.

Mr. Gupta highlighted the need for secure AI and cybersecurity integration across sectors to ensure robust, interconnected systems.

The workshop features 18 technical sessions, 13 expert talks, and five hands-on training sessions, delivered by academicians from national and international universities, alongside industry experts, according to a release from NIT-K.
