Enactus Nigeria, a non-profit organisation empowering students to create positive socio-economic and environmental impact through entrepreneurial action, has rolled out activities to mark its 25 years in Nigeria.
The anniversary will feature Enactus National Competition 2025, celebration and highlight of some alumni, and recognition and appreciation of corporate organisations and individuals who supported Enactus in the last 25 years.
Enactus started in Nigeria in 2000 with University of Uyo, under SIFE, an acronym for Student in Free Enterprise.
SIFE is a youth focused campus student body teaching free market enterprise and market economy, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

In 2011, it changed to Enactus, with the basic principles remaining the same.
Country Director, Michael Ajayi, said the change was necessitated by need to “make it more relevant in today.”
Speaking at a news conference in Lagos, Ajayi said after 25 years, Enactus is celebrating its milestones in building capacity of undergraduates by giving them skills to prepare them for future success.
He said a major highlight of the event slated for July 3, will be the National Competition to showcase the ingenuity, doggedness, and outcome of over 12 months of hard work by Enactus Nigeria students.
The competition will bring together Enactus student and academic leaders from over 16 tertiary institutions, as well as business leaders.
“At the competition, teams will present innovation they created in communities to solve their problems.’’ he said.
