Example 'gutted' as he issues apology to fans after ending Glastonbury 2025 appearance with vow

Example has been forced to apologise for cancelling a gig just hours after performing at this year’s Glastonbury Festival. The musician and singer, real name Elliot John Gleave, told fans he was “absolutely gutted” after losing his voice because of “unexpected sound issues” on stage at Worthy Farm on Friday (June 27). Example performed on the Shangri-La stage and was quick to make a vow as he reflected on his latest Glastonbury slot. He wrote on Instagram: “Shangri-La. One of the smaller stages at Glastonbury. Except when we turn up. Honestly, thank you so much for having me last night. “Lounge Stage 2008. West Dance Village 2010. John Peel Tent / Cube Henge 2011. Other Stage 2013. The Glade / John Peel 2016. The Glade 2023. Shangri La 2025. “No artists make any money at Glastonbury. And that鈥檚 fine. It鈥檚 one of the most magical places on earth. “I still want Pyramid stage. But I鈥檓 not going away just yet. I have patience.” He added: “I鈥檝e lost my voice today due to sound issues for the whole set. This isn鈥檛 a dig at the production crew. These things just happen sometimes. I had to cancel my show today in Aberdeen. (More on that in my stories. I鈥檓 absolutely gutted) “Gotta rest up so I can fly back to Australia tomorrow and be a professional Dad. Big love. E.” It comes after he told fans the morning after his set: “During my set at Glastonbury, we experienced some unexpected sound issues that forced me to push my voice much harder than usual. “I could feel it starting to go, so we made the difficult decision to cut the set short by 20 minutes to protect it ahead of today’s performance at Granite City Festival Aberdeen. “I left the site immediately after the show and arrived at Gatwick by 7am, managing to get a few hours’ sleep before my flight to Aberdeen. “Unfortunately when I woke up, my voice was completely gone. I hate cancelling shows – over the past 21 years, I’ve played 1,534 gigs and only ever cancelled 11. “Scotland has always been my favourite place to perform and this was an incredibly hard decision to make. To everyone who was planning to see me today – and to the Granite City Festival team – I’m truly sorry. We’ll make it up to you, E x.” After pointing out the sound issues during the Glastonbury set, Example added: “This isn鈥檛 a dig at the production crew. These things just happen sometimes.”
