Egyptian Health Ministry Confirms 4 Dead, 22 Injured in Gulf of Suez Barge Sinking

Cairo, July 02 (QNA) – The Egyptian Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday that four people have died and 22 others were injured in the sinking of the oil-drilling barge “Adam Marine 12”, which occurred Tuesday night in the Gebel el-Zeit area in the Gulf of Suez.

According to the Ministry’s statement, four of the injured were airlifted to hospital, while the remaining 18 were transported by ambulance.

Red Sea Governor Amr Hanafi stated that ships from the Egyptian navy had joined the search-and-rescue efforts for four crew members still reported missing.

The barge capsized Tuesday evening off the city of Ras Ghareb, the Egyptian Petroleum Ministry said in a statement.

There were 30 workers on board at the time of the incident, according to Hanafi. (QNA)
