EastEnders fans make clear demand as they spot fan-favourite 'return' clue as they quit rival soap

EastEnders fans have made their feelings very clear as it was revealed that Rita Simons has quit rival soap Hollyoaks after two years. The actress took to social media to confirm her departure from the Channel 4 soap following reports she had quite the role of Joel Dexter’s (Rory Douglas Speed) estranged mother Marie Fielding. Sharing some photos with her co-stars, including Rory and her other on-screen sons Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti) and Arlo Fielding(Dan Hough), Rita wrote on Instagram: “Wanted to share a little bit of news with you “Since Marie Fielding stepped into Hollyoaks village, she鈥檚 sufficiently messed up all her boys lives, Caused ALL the carnage and fallen off the wagon a few times鈥o her job here is done! I鈥檓 going to be saying bye bye in the autumn.” Rita told how her time living in Liverpool helped to “heal” her but now it is time to move on. She teased: “On a personal note, when I first came to Liverpool I was still figuring out how find balance in my mind and body after a total hysterectomy (which was the best journey I ever went on in the end!) “This beautiful, welcoming city has healed me more than I can ever explain. I will always have such love for my second home and the wonderful people of Liverpool. “But now I feel strong, I can metaphorically walk on my own again, and I need to do just that. So It鈥檚 time to thank everyone at Hollyoaks for being the best tonic I could鈥檝e asked for. “But London and my true home is calling and I have to follow my heart. Gone are the days of not listening to my soul. So鈥ondon’s calling baby! (sic)” Despite her departure, Rita teased her alter ego will still be causing “carnage” for some time. She concluded: “But before she goes, Marie has a bit more carnage and a few laughs to unleash on the village鈥o until then 鈥hank you all for all the love and support you鈥檝e always shown me no matter what fictional town I end up in! Where to next!!? Marie ..over and out! (Not quite yet!) (sic)” And fans were quick to comment on the announcement with calls for her to return to EastEnders, despite her character Roxy Mitchell dying in scenes aired in 2017 alongside sister Ronnie Mitchell, played by Samantha Womack. @lp.bxnds said: “You鈥檝e been absolutely incredible as Marie, loved your character. But c’mon, I think it鈥檚 time to get back to EastEnders and be Roxy again.” @michellesxwalford commented: “Ohhhh I love Marie as well Rita please say this means a return of iconic Roxy Mitchell in Walford.” @kaiyahcooper wrote: “Please say you and your on set EE sister are rising from the dead in Albert Square.. I don’t care how or why killing off Ronnie&Roxy was the worst thing that soap did.” @snedderz93 posted: “Has anyone noticed Rita has used the same song Eastenders uses for Zo毛’s Return i feel we may have a Roxy & Ronnie return I hope so.” @mackembernie replied: “Sad to see your character go but we need Roxy to return to @bbceastenders we never saw her in a coffin or saw her funeral.” @charlieestevenn added: “Albert square. Don’t even wait for them to call you and Samantha girl just both turn up and force them to write you back in it.”
