It’s not an all-time low, but this is still a fantastic deal on one of our favourite ultralight drones

I’m no drone expert but even I can appreciate the amount of technology that’s crammed into the tiny body of the DJI Mini 4 Pro quadcopter.

It weighs in at under 250g (249g to be precise), so you don’t need to register it with CASA to fly it in Australia but, of course, it’s best if you read the safety instructions before you take flight with a new drone – there are rules and regulations you still need to follow as a drone pilot. even when using an ultralight one like the Mini 4 Pro.
And this little drone now gets a discount on Amazon that’s hard to ignore – 21% off the standard bundle with the RC 2 controller. That brings the price down to AU$1,128 and a mere AU$55 more than its lowest-ever price.
This is a discount that I would normally expect when Prime Day camera deals begin in Australia, so take advantage of this offer now as there’s no guarantees that the price will drop further when the big Amazon sale kicks off on July 8.

Even Amazon says this drone is the #1 bestseller in the Drones & Multirotors category on its retail site, and for good reason. It scored full marks in our DJI Mini 4 Pro review, even though our tester said the “price was prohibitive”. It’s one of the most expensive drones in its weight category, but you get professional-quality results and performance to justify the cost. This 21% discount makes it a lot more appealing.

DCW review rating: ★★★★★

One of the reasons my colleague Adam Juniper gave the DJI Mini 4 Pro five stars in his review was because he considered it to be the pinnacle of drone technology when it released in 2023.
And its aged well, still being the best drone for most people for aerial photography. In fact, it’s also one of the best drones for beginners too.
It’s quite straightforward to use and the technology is reliable. It boasts a strong radio range to help you preview the video on the screen of that RC 2 controller that ships with it for longer. And the DJI interface is pretty slick too.
It also boasts features that aren’t yet available in much heavier drones that you might see used on movie productions – things like the ability to remotely rotate the main camera to a vertical orientation. That means you don’t need to crop pictures but can shoot full-resolution images and video for social media.
This, and a camera able to record 10-bit video, huge RAW photos and even 100fps slow-mo is what makes it able to keep up with the professional drones. If you have the budget for this drone (and that’s looking a lot easier right now), you also get premium safety tools like collision sensors that make it more useful for beginners than cheaper options.
If you prefer the Fly More Combos, they’re both discounted as well, but the 19% discount on the standard combo with the RC 2 controller isn’t as good as the 20% price cut on the Fly More Combo Plus. The latter is more economical as you’re getting two spare ‘Extra Intelligent’ batteries rather than the standard ones which improve flight time from the usual 38 minutes to a much better 45 minutes.
