Document racket busted, father-son duo nabbed

The Adilabad One Town police have busted a document racket involving a father-son duo and seized dozens of fake government documents and rubber stamps from their residence in Adilabad town.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the house of the main accused L. Rahul Kumar, 34, at Shanthinagar in the district headquarters town on Friday night.

Police arrested his father L. Badrinath, the second accused, and recovered forged documents and rubber stamps of various government departments from their residence. A search is underway to trace Rahul Kumar, who is at large, police said.

A computer, scanner and other equipment, used by the accused for preparing the fake documents and rubber stamps, were also seized.

The father-son duo had been allegedly operating the racket in the guise of document writers from their residence for the past several months.

The accused allegedly aided unscrupulous elements in using the forged documents for fraudulently availing benefits of various government schemes, encroaching upon lands and other illegal transactions.

The seized forged documents from the accused include fake birth, death and marriage certificates, Aadhaar cards, building permission and private job appointment letters, among others.

Adilabad Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan commended the police team that busted the fake documents racket.
