An Indian-origin chef from the US has recently caught the internet鈥檚 attention, especially among Desis. Why, you ask? Because netizens think he bears an uncanny resemblance to none other than Mahatma Gandhi. Chef Ranjan Dey, who runs a restaurant in San Francisco, has gone viral for his striking looks. Videos posted from his Instagram account are making the rounds on social media. In these clips, he is seen explaining and preparing dishes while sporting round glasses, a bald head, and a slender face鈥攑rompting the internet to dub him 鈥淕andhi鈥檚 lookalike.鈥 According to his Instagram bio, he is a globally acclaimed chef and runs the oldest Indian restaurant in San Francisco. The bio reads: 鈥淕lobally acclaimed chef who has the oldest Indian restaurant in San Francisco. Proudly serving and advocating for the community for 35 years.鈥 In one of the viral videos, which has a comment section filled with remarks about his resemblance to Gandhiji, Chef Dey is seen preparing bhindi fry. The caption reads: 鈥淐ome and get it now. Can鈥檛 wait to see you and cook for you. It鈥檚 always a good time at New Delhi Restaurant. Grateful for our community. You will have a Freakin Deylicious experience while supporting a small mixed immigrant family legacy business.鈥 As soon as the video reached social media, comments poured in: 鈥淏apu Ji lookalike spotted.鈥 One user wrote, 鈥淕andhi reborn.鈥 Another remarked, 鈥淪orry Bapu, lagta hai galti se time travel karke past mein aa gaye.鈥 Someone else quipped, 鈥淲e see you every day鈥 I even keep your picture in my pocket.鈥 Another added, 鈥淲e鈥檝e had Bapu fight for freedom, score the winning goal for India alongside Modi, and now we see him cook.
