Commuters travelling between Delhi and Jaipur can expect a significant reduction in travel time soon, as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to open a 67.9-km-long spur connecting the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to Jaipur via Bandikui. Officials said the new high-speed corridor is expected to be operational by mid-July, reducing travel time by nearly an hour and distance by around 12 kilometres. Currently, those travelling from Delhi to Jaipur exit the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway at the Bandhrej toll plaza in Dausa and then take the heavily congested Jaipur-Agra Highway (NH-44), which adds to the journey time. This new four-lane, access-controlled road will provide a direct and faster alternative to reach Jaipur, bypassing traffic bottlenecks. According to NHAI officials, the entire 67.8-km stretch between Bandikui and Jaipur has been constructed at a cost of ₹1,368 crore. The road features four lanes with paved shoulders and will have controlled entry and exit points, similar to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The section is undergoing a safety audit, and traffic trials are expected to begin by mid-July. Once operational, the total travel time between Delhi and Jaipur is estimated to come down to approximately 3 hours to 3 hours and 15 minutes. To further ease congestion on the Jaipur-Agra Highway, NHAI is also planning a greenfield expressway project to directly connect Jaipur with the Delhi-Agra corridor.
