Deepika Padukone is about to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Deepika Padukone will become the first Indian actress to have a star at the iconic Hollywood location. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced Deepika鈥檚 name as part of their class of 2026. Her name was announced in the Motion Pictures category. However, did you know, the star comes with a price tag of nearly Rs 73 lakh?
According to the Hollywood Walk of Fame鈥檚 official website, anyone can nominate a celebrity for a star. Even a fan can submit a nomination, with the agreement of the celebrity or their management team. The website mentions, 鈥淚f there is no letter of agreement included from the celebrity or his/her representative, the committee will not accept the application.鈥
Upon being selected, the celebrity or a sponsor needs to pay a hefty amount for the star and its maintenance. The official website states, 鈥淭here is a $85,000 sponsorship fee upon selection. The fee is used to pay for the creation and installation of the star, as well as the maintenance of the Walk of Fame. Price subject to change.鈥 The amount is close to Rs 73 lakh upon conversion.
Not just the star, but even the application form has a price. There is a $275 application fee (per submission every two years), which roughly converts to Rs 23,530. Thus, the total process has a whopping cost. Whether it is unclear whether Deepika Padukone paid for the star herself or if she was sponsored by someone, it is evident that the star has cost a fortune.
Now, Deepika Padukone has a period of two years to schedule the unveiling ceremony, lest she lose her star. 鈥淭he recipient has up to two years to schedule their ceremony. If it is not done within the two-year period, it will expire, and an application must be resubmitted,鈥 the website states.
Currently, there are more than 2,700 stars on the Walk of Fame, which is located on Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles. Around 300 applications are submitted every year. Out of these, about 30 celebrities are shortlisted. Besides Deepika Padukone, the class of 2026 also includes Emily Blunt, Timoth茅e Chalamet, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, Stanley Tucci, and Demi Moore, among many other renowned performers.
