Dad Notices Something Different About Floor, Then He Watches Home Camera

A father renovating his kitchen was stunned to discover that, while he had been taking a short break, someone else had quietly advanced the project. That someone turned out to be his 7-year-old son.The moment, captured on the family’s home security camera, quickly went viral after being posted to Instagram by Heather Beck, the boy’s mother. The video, which has now been liked more than 2.3 million times on the platform, showed the boy’s dad enter the kitchen mid-renovation and notice that new floorboards had been installed. Confused, he reviewed the camera footage鈥攐nly to find that his son Abel had done it.Viewers were able to see Abel casually placing two floorboards into position and hammering them down. When his dad walked in, the boy proudly said: “Dad, I helped you with those two.” The post has since stunned and delighted viewers across other social-media platforms, amassing more than 100 million views combined across Instagram and TikTok.Heather Beck, who is based in Texas, told Newsweek. “One day, our home security camera captured Abel helping out with a DIY project all on his own, and his dad, Wes, was genuinely shocked that he figured that out alone.”Beck, a content creator who documents her family’s life online focusing on ‘day in the life’ clips and renovation reels, said the moment came as a complete surprise鈥攅ven to the family. Though the footage was only a few seconds long, the earnestness of Abel’s actions resonated with millions on the platform.”That sweet, spontaneous moment ended up going viral around the world,” Beck said.Viewers on Instagram applauded Abel for pitching in with the renovation work while his dad was away.
