Conor McGregor teases 'groundbreaking' announcement four years after last UFC fight

Conor McGregor has teased a ‘groundbreaking’ announcement four years on from his last fight.

The former MMA star has not fought since July 11, 2021, when he broke his leg in a loss to long-time rival Dustin Poirier.

Since then, McGregor has spoken about returning to UFC and was even booked in for a June 2024 fight against Michael Chandler but withdrew due to injury.

Fast-forward four years, and McGregor’s time has been spent promoting some of his business ventures. He owns a minority stake in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC).

The Dubliner has become one of the faces for the organisation and is regular on hand to promote events.

The organisation also sent out a press release teasing that McGregor would be present for a ‘groundbreaking’ announcement in Hollywood, Florida.

McGregor will be joined by founder David Feldman at the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood.

Rumours have been circulating about what the announcement could be, but it is expected to be the announcement of a stacked card for one of the organisation’s biggest events, although do not rule out a big free-agent acquisition.

McGregor himself has stated before that he wishes to fight for the organisation but given he is still contracted to the UFC and has not fought in four years, it seems highly unlikely.

The Dubliner did state he would like to fight in the UFC’s White House card, with President Donald Trump saying that his residence will play host to a card next year as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.

We are going to have some incredible events, some professional events, some amateur events,” he told the crowd.

“Does anybody watch UFC? The great Dana White? We’re going to have a UFC fight. We’re going to have a UFC fight – think of this – on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there.”

The US President is a regular attendee to UFC events, including last month’s UFC 316.
