A community awareness event highlighting safety measures and support available from community groups took place in Rutherglen. It was held in the town鈥檚 Exchange shopping centre to help share advice on subjects ranging from fraudulent scams and community safety to homelessness and fire prevention advice. The event was run by Rutherglen Community Awareness Partnership 鈥 a partnership including representatives from local organisations such as Healthy 鈥榥鈥 Happy, Rutherglen Food Bank and Neighbourhood Watch, plus emergency services and South Lanarkshire Council. And the team鈥檚 coordinator, Barry Cathie, said: 鈥淭he event was well attended and our thanks and appreciation go to all our partners and to Jane Cowan, shopping centre manager.鈥 The day provided locals with vital information on community safety, fire safety, health and wellbeing, scams and fraud awareness and discussing issues such as anti-social behaviour and youth disorder in the community.
