China sets its first renewable standards for steel, cement and polysilicon

China has introduced renewable energy mandates for key industries like steel, cement, polysilicon, and some data centers, setting specific targets for renewable power consumption in each province. These renewable portfolio standards (RPS) expand beyond previous regulations, requiring heavy industry to procure green energy. Targets vary by province, with hydropower-rich Yunnan aiming for 70% renewables by 2025.
