Last year, Brat dominated the summer as the award-winning album from singer Charli XCX. As the ‘it girl’ of the moment, fans look to her for guidance on all things trendy.
Whether it’s music, fashion, or now film, the world is eagerly awaiting her opinions, trusting they’ll be as cool as she is.
In a surprising turn of events, the pop star’s Letterboxd account (itscharlibb) was leaked, revealing her personal thoughts on some of the films she’s watched over the past year during her career surge. As an app that encourages users to leave reviews, curate their top favourites, and engage in film discussions, fans were taken aback to see Charli openly expressing her love for cinema.
The singer has since delved deeper into her interest in film, sharing her recent watch history on TikTok. So, what exactly has this international pop sensation been viewing?
Firstly, her top four favourites are listed as The Addiction, directed by Abel Ferrara, alongside Céline and Julie Go Boating, Maps to the Stars, and Phantom Thread. Regarding recent films, the Brat singer has listed over 100 films she’s watched this year alone, reports the Mirror US.
The Bling Ring (2011)
Charli’s not shy about admitting her love for The Bling Ring, confessing she’s watched it “four times” and said on Letterboxd: “This movie is aging like a fine wine! better with every watch. P.S. I miss my BlackBerry. xx”.
On TikTok, she further dishes: “I feel like it feels more culturally relevant every single time that I rewatch it. When I watch this film, it feels like I’m reading a salacious gossip magazine, which I kind of feel like is the entire point. Also, I think the fashion is obviously back, like all the wardrobes in this movie kind of look like Addison’s (Addison Rae) closet.”
28 Years Later (2025).
Always on-trend and on the go, Charli checks out the fresh cinematic offering with ’28 Years Later’ hitting theatres. Even with her hectic schedule as a ‘365 party girl’ and rocking out at Wembley Stadium, she squeezed in some movie time, revealing: “I actually watched this in between sound check and performing at Dua Lipa’s show. I just needed to run across the road and see this. Danny Boyle is back.”
Unzipped (1995)
Charli has been sharing her top picks with fans, urging them to check out the fashion documentary Unzipped for an insider’s look at Isaac Mizrahi’s New York Fashion Week collection. She even hailed it as her “favorite thing she’s seen this month,” and considering her extensive cultural appetite, that’s saying something.
She gushed about the film, writing: “A truly incredible documentary about the creative process, the viewer, and devotion. Isaac Mizrahi is just fabulous, and everything that comes out of his mouth is poetry: hilarious, brilliant, architectural poetry.”
Nosferatu (2024)
Venturing into the realm of horror, the 32 year old pop sensation shared her love for the recent chiller starring Lily-Rose Depp. On her not-so-secret profile, she confessed there’s “so much” she “loves” about Nosferatu.
She highlighted her favourite aspects of the movie: “Some fav things: the shot of the black umbrellas in the rain on the cobbled street, the way tears looked falling down people’s faces, Lily-Rose Depp contorting, pretty much anything Lily did actually… I just really loved it, and I’ll probs watch it another 2 times this month. Go off, Robert Eggers.”
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (2025)
Charli also tuned into the latest Bridget Jones saga, Mad About the Boy, and wasn’t afraid to admit it struck a chord. In her review, she was candid about her reaction: “Cried twice during this. I am SO on my period.”
Other flicks that popped up on her recently discovered profile include The Village, Part of the Weekend Never Dies, The Moment, and The Happening, among others. As down-to-earth and frank as always, the singer-songwriter continues to share her film reviews both on her Letterboxd account and through her TikToks, so keep an eye out for what else catches her attention.
