Carrie Johnson, wife of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, has been hospitalised for two nights due to “severe dehydration” just over a month after the birth of her fourth child. In a message shared on Friday, she highlighted the importance of self-care for new mothers during the heatwave, with temperatures in London soaring above 30C this week and expected to rise further over the weekend. On social media, 37 year old Johnson disclosed her recent health struggles, including mastitis, and shared a photo cradling her daughter, stating: “Being hospitalised for two nights for my severe dehydration was not on my postpartum bingo card. Breastfeeding mums make sure you eat and drink enough in this heat. Especially if your babe is clusterfeeding.” She continued, detailing the challenges faced by both her and her newborn: “This week has honestly been brutal. Mastitis (me), reflux (her), dehydration (me). What a pair we are! But thank you for all the kindest messages, especially all the brilliant advice on reflux. Really appreciate it and made me feel way less alone going thru it all.” In her posts, Carrie Johnson also expressed gratitude towards “our amazing NHS “. Johnson took to social media last month to announce the arrival of her daughter, Poppy, sharing a snapshot of the newborn with two of her siblings. She expressed her amazement at how “pretty and tiny” Poppy was and mentioned that her other children were “utterly delighted” by the new addition to the family. Her daughter Romy was particularly excited, having been “desperate for a little sister. Bring on the matching dresses”. Additionally, Johnson posted pictures of herself and her husband cradling their baby girl. She described returning home from the hospital, ready to enjoy “Back from hospital now and time for cocktails and pizza with my tiny baby snoozing on my lap,” with Poppy dozing in her lap, declaring, “Life doesn’t get any better.” The couple tied the knot in 2021, which was also the year they welcomed their first child together, Wilfred. Their second child, Romy, arrived in December 2021, followed by Frank in 2023. The former prime minister has several other children from previous relationships, including four with his former spouse Marina Wheeler, and one child born in 2009 as a result of an affair with art consultant Helen Macintyre.
