Cabinet clears projects for Sorab and Bhadravati taluks, says Madhu Bangarappa

Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa has said the State Cabinet, which met on Wednesday, cleared various projects with the total estimated cost of ₹168.8 crore for Sorab taluk.

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Mr. Madhu Bangarappa, who is also the Minister in charge of Shivamogga district, said that the projects include the construction of barrage across the river Dandavathi in Sorab taluk to fill up 15 tanks at a cost of ₹38.5 crore. In another project, a barrage and a bridge-cum-barrage would be constructed across the Dandavathi and Varada at a cost ₹54.7 crore, he said.

The Cabinet cleared the construction of another barrage across the Varada river at Gudavi village to fill up 32 tanks by lifting 0.10 tmc of water at a cost of ₹75.60 crore, he said.

The Minister said that the Cabinet cleared projects with a total estimated cost of ₹139 crore for Bhadravati taluk, including filling up of 22 tanks from the river Bhadra at a cost of ₹54 crore, construction of a retaining wall to avoid flooding in Bhadravati town at a cost of ₹50 crore, and a roadwork to help the residents of Kagekodumagge and Holehonnur at a cost of ₹35 crore.
