As he recovers from a heart attack, dancehall artiste Nitty Kutchie says he is imploring others to make water and rest their best friends.
Recovering in a Corporate Area hospital, he also encouraged others to avoid artificial sugar at all costs.
“Just find a place and bury sugar because it not good for yuh. Get rest and just take care of yourself. If God no make it, just no eat it. Don’t fight your body and get rest. Drink water and do water fast because it is the staff of life. Speak of God highly. I truly believe it is God who saved my life and nothing else,” Nitty Kutchie said. He told THE STAR that although he spends hours exercising daily, he had a sweet tooth which eventually impacted his health negatively.
“Exercising, not drinking water and eating a lot of sugar and not getting enough rest is like defeating the purpose of exercising. Is something like that take me. I never find myself loving water like that and when you see others with a bottle, I would have juice but I have now come to realise that water is the staff of life. I wasn’t resting enough and sometimes I would go to a party and then leave and go workout,” he said.
Nitty Kutchie said his body had been giving warning signs for a few months including chest pain. He also stated that during one of his live sessions on TikTok, a follower called him privately and told him that he did not like the appearance of his eyes.
” Him say mi eyes dem look like mi need water. But it was like I wasn’t used to drinking water. I would like drink three jelly water and all two days no water and now I realise that it can’t good, ” he said.
The entertainer said last Thursday started like any other where he and his friends had their workout challenges.
“Mi start and is like everybody a [outdo] mi and that don’t happen on a regular basis. Mi start do some push ups and then mi chest start hurt mi and mi tell mi friend Nutsy say him win this time. Mi lay down on mi chest and mi feel like mi lay down on a stone because I was uncomfortable. It was the same when I turn on my back and stomach,” he said.
Nitty Kutchie said he began sweating profusely and his friends tried to assist by wetting him with water and giving him guinea hen weed to inhale.
“My mouth began running water and I couldn’t control it. One of ladies name Carlene suggested that I go to the doctor but I said no. They took mi home and I started to tell God that my life was in His hand and I felt a bit better and I felt like I want to sleep. Next thing my hand started to cramp up,” he said.
With much persuasion from his wife and other loved ones, Nitty Kutchie agreed to seek medical attention. By then, the chest pain had intensified. A series of examinations revealed that the singer was experiencing a heart attack.
“When the doctor tell mi I told him say mi can’t deal with that ya now because I have to go in the street and hustle. I had dub plates to make. Mi tell dem to just fix mi up and make mi gwan out there. But they never pay mi any mind, thankfully,” Nitty Kutchie said.
The entertainer said he has been hospitalised and is under observation since Thursday. He said he is set to be discharged today and is keeping his fingers crossed that all things will work in his favour.
