Bridge McFarland LLP has secured a damages settlement of 拢750,000 for a client who was the victim of a high-speed road traffic accident. Our client, who was a rear seat passenger in her friend鈥檚 car, had left her vehicle when suddenly and without warning she was hit at speed by a driver in a van who was driving well in excess of the speed limit. She was thrown down the road and left unconscious as a result of the collision. The driver initially left the scene of the accident, abandoned his vehicle and reported it as being stolen before being apprehended by police. After being presented with forensic evidence he admitted to having caused the accident. He was later prosecuted. Our client was very seriously injured. She was taken to hospital for emergency surgery on her spleen. She suffered a serious head injury and had multiple fractures in addition to serious psychological trauma. She was later diagnosed with fibromyalgia and will never make a full recovery from the injuries sustained in the accident. At the time of her accident she had ambitions of moving into district nursing and was on this career path. Expert evidence was secured to prove our client鈥檚 case. She was made redundant by her employer after the accident. A settlement has been agreed with the driver鈥檚 insurers in the sum of 拢750,000 which includes a large claim for her injuries, for care and therapy which our client will need in the future and also for her lost earnings and future pension. James Burrell, Partner and Solicitor who dealt with our client鈥檚 case said: 鈥淭his was a shocking accident and our client suffered very serious physical and psychological injuries. We were pleased to be able to put in place a specialist package of rehabilitation for our client to look after her immediate needs and to her huge credit she has made a remarkable recovery from her injuries through her commitment to her rehabilitation. She did also unfortunately develop fibromyalgia in the aftermath which meant that she was unable to qualify as a district nurse and suffered a substantial loss of earnings and loss of pension as a result. 鈥淲ith this settlement our client will be able to fund the future treatment she needs and it will also provide her with some financial security moving forwards.鈥 Our client said: 鈥淚 am extremely grateful to Bridge McFarland LLP for all of their help throughout the entire process. I’ve felt extremely supported through everything that I have been through, appointments, my rehabilitation, and answering any questions that I have had throughout the claim. 鈥淚’m thankful for all of their help with other additional things that don’t normally fall into the case such as obtaining specialist benefits advice for me. The whole team are very friendly and I felt confident in anything that was being said and done for me.鈥 If you have been the victim of a road traffic accident or have suffered serious injuries as a result of an accident, please call 01482 320 620 or e-mail info@bmcf.co.uk to speak to our Hull based Personal Injury Solicitors today.
