Born Without A Womb, UK Midwife To Become Mum Via Surrogacy; Will Deliver The Baby Too!

Many women dream of cradling a child of their own, but for some, medical conditions make this impossible. For 28-year-old Georgia Barrington, a midwife from the UK, this has long been her reality. Born without a uterus, Georgia was told as a teenager that she would never be able to carry a child. Today, thanks to surrogacy and the unwavering support of her best friend, her lifelong dream of motherhood is finally coming true.
Diagnosed at the age of 15 with Mayer-Rokitansky-K眉ster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome, Georgia was heartbroken to learn that she had been born without a womb. While she continued to help countless women give birth in her role as a midwife, her own path to motherhood seemed out of reach. But fate had other plans.
Her childhood friend, 29-year-old Daisy Hope, had once jokingly offered to carry a baby for Georgia, a promise she honoured years later. After giving birth to her own daughter, Emilia, Daisy reaffirmed her offer. Georgia accepted with heartfelt gratitude, and the journey began.
Using Georgia鈥檚 eggs and the sperm of her partner, 31-year-old Lloyd Williams, doctors created embryos via IVF. One was implanted into Daisy, who became pregnant on the second attempt in early 2025. Sadly, that pregnancy ended in miscarriage at nine weeks. Undeterred, they tried again, and on January 31, 2025, a second embryo transfer was successful.
Daisy is now 23 weeks pregnant, and both women are filled with anticipation. 鈥淵ou can see her bump growing. She messages me about every little symptom,鈥 said Georgia, who plans to assist with the delivery at the very hospital where she works.
Despite her experience in maternity care, Georgia admits to being nervous due to her knowledge of what can go wrong. However, this pregnancy has been smooth, and excitement is growing with each passing day.
The couple spent 拢15,000 on IVF treatment, receiving 拢5,000 in financial support from the NHS. But for Georgia, the emotional support from Daisy has been priceless.
鈥淚t feels like a dream,鈥 said Georgia. Daisy added, 鈥淚t鈥檚 going to be magical. I can鈥檛 wait to see Emilia and the baby become best friends. We鈥檙e in this together.鈥
Their story is not only a touching tale of friendship and resilience, but also a shining example of how hope and love can overcome even the toughest of odds.
