Bolt and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) say they will be providing cultural training courses to migrants in Malta who work in the mobility and delivery sectors. Bolt, which does not directly hire cab drivers or food couriers, will not be conducting the training courses, but is collaborating with IOM to leverage their “expertise to deliver tailored training for migrant workers”. News of the training comes on the heels of government plans to introduce a skills pass requirement for all new Third-Country Nationals moving to work in Malta, which would cover similar topics. The training course carried out by the collaboration will address topics such as adapting to Maltese culture, understanding labour rights and how to report potential violations. 鈥淎s part of the project, the IOM will facilitate training for migrant service providers to support their integration into the local economy and society, covering important topics such as adapting to local culture, understanding labour rights, and knowing how to report any violations,鈥 a joint statement by Bolt and IOM said. They said the project 鈥 鈥淏ridging the Gap 鈥 Integrating Migrants鈥 鈥 will eventually expand globally, but is using Malta as a 鈥減ilot project鈥. 鈥淭hese sessions will help facilitate integration into the local economy and society, addressing key topics such as adapting to Maltese culture, understanding labour rights, and knowing how to report potential violations鈥.
