Black Country Construction Services (BCCS), which was formed by Matt Hollis and Gavin Thomas, hosted its first ever golf day at Gaudet Luce in Droitwich on Friday, with 13 companies and over 50 individuals from industry swapping their tools for golf clubs and holes in one.
Guests took part in individual and team competitions, 鈥榥earest the pin鈥 and 鈥榣ongest drive鈥, as well as enjoying an all-star raffle to win several major prizes.
Over 拢2,000 was raised on the day for Beth鈥檚 Sunflowers, a charity set-up in memory of Beth Childs who sadly lost her life to Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia just two months away from her 21st birthday.
Since 2019, mum Andrea and Dad Rob have been raising awareness of the cruel disease by generating funds for Blood Cancer UK, A Gift to Lift and Cure Leukaemia through the sale of thousands of sunflower seeds every year.
鈥淲e wanted to do something positive that marked our first five years in business and a chance conversation with Andrea in The Park Tavern gave us the idea to put on a charity event. Gavin and I both love golf, so it was an easy decision from there,鈥 explained Matt, who has been in construction for more than 25 years.
鈥淚t was the perfect opportunity to get our clients and trusted supply chain together to enjoy time away from site, although the competition was as fierce as ever with WATES鈥 Christian Bird winning the main prize and 拢300 to spend in Gaudet Luce Golf Shop and Adam Cook, Richard Chatfield and Darren Cook taking the team prize.鈥
He continued: 鈥淚mportantly, we raised over 拢2000 for Beth鈥檚 Sunflowers, taking the charity鈥檚 total fundraising to more than 拢200,000 since it was started. That is really going to make a difference to lots of people suffering with cancer.
鈥淎 big thank you to lots of companies for their generosity and the raffle prizes, including the Boden Group, Crafted Contemporary Kitchens, Crown Paint, Furniture for the Home, Jewson, Johnstone鈥檚 Paint, Travis Perkins and Gaudet Luce鈥檚 Oliver Lewis for organising the day and donating a 鈥榝our ball鈥.
