Recently, Rockview Hotel in Festac Town played host to a powerful event that celebrated the resilience and potential of women who have been facing challenges and setbacks in their lives. The ‘Second Chance for Women’ programme, organised by Saved Women With Amazing Grace (SWAG) Nation, powered by Mothers of the Nations, brought together women from diverse backgrounds to share their stories, find support, and discover new opportunities.
During the one-day programme, which featured 150 women, the participants who related freely among themselves, listened to the message by Bishop Otuya, even as they held a workshop on the subject matter and engaged in light entertainments among themselves like cat walking, as well as making connections for networking.
The Vision Behind SWAG Nation
SWAG Nation is a faith-based initiative that identifies with women who have been marginalised, relegated, or overlooked by society. Many of these women have missed opportunities, struggled to find their place, and grapple with self-discovery. The organisation aims to empower these women by helping them discover their identity, align it with their faith, and develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed.
Ministry Of Empowerment
Inspired by the biblical stories of women who were given second chances, such as the woman at the well and the woman who anointed Jesus’ feet with oil, SWAG Nation seeks to provide a supportive community where women can find healing, growth, and transformation. The organisation’s vision is to empower women to become social entrepreneurs, supporting each other and creating positive change in their communities.
The Convener
The ‘Second Chance for Women’ programme was convened by Bishop Dr. Priscilla Otuya, President General of Mothers of the Nations Organisations for Peace and Development. As a respected leader and advocate for women’s empowerment, Bishop Otuya’s vision for this event was to create a platform where women could come together to share their stories, find support, and discover new opportunities for growth and development.
The ‘Second Chance for Women’ programme featured inspiring stories of resilience, workshops on entrepreneurship and personal development, and opportunities for networking and connection. The event was designed to create a safe space for women to share their experiences, find support, and discover new possibilities.
Message Of Hope, Encouragement
The event’s message was clear as espoused by Bishop Otuya: every woman deserves a second chance, and with the right support and resources, they can overcome challenges and achieve their goals. SWAG Nation’s vision is to create a community of empowered women who can inspire and uplift each other, and make a positive impact in their communities.
