Her path to pregnancy wasn鈥檛 straightforward. She shared how the legal and medical landscapes once posed barriers for single women seeking IVF. 鈥淔or the longest time, the law didn鈥檛 support single or unwed women opting for motherhood through these means. But once the legal framework shifted to be more inclusive, I knew it was time,鈥 Bhavana said.
However, not all doctors were receptive. 鈥淚 began reaching out to IVF clinics and encountered resistance. Many doctors simply hung up the moment they learned I was single and unmarried,鈥 she recalled. Fortunately, she eventually found a doctor who was 鈥渋ncredibly supportive and has held my hand through every step of the journey.鈥
Now preparing to welcome her twins, Bhavana has reflected deeply on the path ahead. 鈥淚鈥檝e thought through what it means to raise children as a single parent, and I鈥檓 well aware that my children may face questions as they grow up. I鈥檓 prepared for that,鈥 she said. 鈥淚鈥檓 not a man-hater, and I don鈥檛 claim that living without a man is the ideal path. What I will teach my children is this: life is about love, about companionship, and about standing tall in your truth.鈥
She added that while her children may not have a father figure in the conventional sense, they will be raised in a nurturing environment. 鈥淭hey鈥檒l grow up surrounded by strong, kind male figures鈥攎y brother, my cousins鈥攚ho will give them the emotional balance that matters so much in childhood.鈥
Having made her acting debut in 1996 with Maribale, Bhavana has carved a diverse and enduring career in Kannada cinema with notable films such as Nee Mudida Mallige, Kshaama, Bhagirathi, Otta, Bhagawan, Shanti, and Family.
