Bengaluru: A gruesome murder case has shaken South Bengaluru after the body of a woman was discovered stuffed inside a sack and thrown into a garbage truck. The police investigation has revealed that the victim, Asha (40), was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner, Mohammed Shamshuddin (33), who has now been arrested.
The body was found by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) workers on Sunday morning inside a gunny bag in a garbage truck. The woman鈥檚 hands were tied, prompting immediate police action. Bengaluru police registered a murder case and began a swift probe, including scanning CCTV footage.
Based on the footage and other leads, police tracked down Shamshuddin, a native of Assam. He had been living with Asha in Hulimavu for over a year. Both individuals were married to others and had two children each, but they presented themselves to neighbors as a married couple.
Asha, a widow, worked with Urban Company, offering housekeeping services. Shamshuddin鈥檚 legal wife and children continue to live in Assam.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Lokesh B Jagalasar, the couple had a heated argument that escalated into physical violence, culminating in Asha being strangled to death. After the murder, Shamshuddin allegedly transported her body on a two-wheeler and dumped it in a garbage truck.
