A Bengaluru-based woman shared on Reddit that she resigned from her job to safeguard her mental health after enduring months of severe harassment at her workplace.
In her post titled Quit to save my sanity, the 25-year-old professional revealed she worked as a Product Experience Manager at a prominent startup. She described how relentless mistreatment triggered panic attacks before she even stepped into the office. Despite trying to persevere, she eventually realised staying was damaging her well-being.
鈥淢ost of my team had already quit because of the harassment,鈥 she wrote. 鈥淚 tried to hold on, but I couldn鈥檛 anymore.鈥
After resigning, she decided to give herself four months to look for a new opportunity in customer experience, operations, or product consulting 鈥 ideally in a remote or hybrid setup.
Her experience resonated with many, sparking a broader conversation about mental health and toxic workplaces.
One commenter shared, 鈥淭he same happened to me. For five months, I barely ate or slept. Quitting was the only way out. It鈥檚 hard to explain to new employers 鈥 not everyone gets how harmful a toxic environment can be.鈥
Another user noted, 鈥淪adly, this has become normal in Indian startups. Founders burn through funding and expect employees to do the work of three people.鈥
Many praised her courage to prioritise her mental health over a paycheck, calling her decision an important reminder of self-care.
