Before the SHTF and the Fascist State Theological Thought Police knock down your door, here are some out-of-the-way places to consider building a Lair in. You wouldn’t want to live in any of them, but still better than the alternative? (youtube.com)

The Maze looks interesting. If I had the bucks, that would make a spiffy lair.

I have been in the Boundary Waters (canoeing in summer and dogsledding in winter). It is an incredible place and the first place I am heading if I need a lair, as long as I can keep the wolves at bay. Just need my car and enough gas to drive 10 hours from SE Wisconsin.
Moose out front would protect me.

A couple of decades ago we were camping at the Hungry Horse Reservoir (slightly south of GNP) and one day decided to drive around the reservoir (100ish miles all but 3-4 gravel road, it took all day). At the far south end was the northern ranger station for The Bob. We stopped for a bathroom break & to check out things. The two Rangers on duty were so excited to see us. Apparently we were the second group of people to pass by that week (4th of July weekend, it should have been relatively busy). Gorgeous area, but yeah, really remote.

Been there many times on the Canadian side. Gimme a cabin with solar power, the usual tools, gardening & fishing gear, etc. and I’d be happy living there even without SHTF.
