Bank Holidays: Are Banks Open Or Closed Today, Saturday, June 28?

Banks in some parts of India will remain closed from June 28 to June 30 due to a mix of weekend, religious, and regional holidays. The closure will depend on the location and nature of the observance.
June 28, being the fourth Saturday of the month, is a scheduled holiday for banks across the country. Following this, June 29 is a Sunday, which is a regular weekly off for all banks.
On June 30, banks in the state of Mizoram will be closed for Remna Ni, a regional public holiday. This day commemorates the signing of the Mizoram Peace Accord in 1986, which brought an end to years of insurgency in the region. It is observed as a symbol of peace, unity, and harmony.
Banking Services to Run Normally in Most States
Banks in other parts of India will operate normally during this period, except on the weekend. However, customers are advised to check their state-wise bank holiday schedule or contact their local branches in advance if they have important work planned.
Essential banking services such as ATMs, online banking, mobile apps, and internet banking will continue to function without any disruption, ensuring smooth access to transactions during the holidays.
July Brings a Fresh Round of Bank Holidays Across India
More bank holidays are lined up for July 2025, with banks expected to remain closed for up to 13 days in total. This includes Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays, and various regional holidays across different states.
One of the first regional closures will be on July 6, when banks in Tripura will remain closed for Kharchi Puja, a major traditional festival observed in the state.
Following that, on July 9, banks in several northeastern states will be shut in observance of Drukpa Tshe-zi and Martyrs’ Day, both significant cultural and historical days for the region.
Later in the month, on July 17, banks in Kerala and Tamil Nadu will observe a holiday for Muharram, a key religious occasion in the Islamic calendar. However, this date is subject to moon sighting, so the final confirmation may vary slightly.
In addition to these specific holidays, banks will remain closed on all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays as per the regular schedule.
Customers are advised to plan their banking needs accordingly and make use of digital banking services like mobile apps, internet banking, and ATMs, which will remain operational throughout these non-working days.
