Apple Restores iCloud Services After Facing Global Outage: Here’s What Went Wrong

An iCloud outage, that took place today, has affected major services like Find My, Photos, iCloud Mail, and iCloud web apps. As of now, it has been confirmed by Apple that the issue has been resolved, almost five hours after the outage. As stated by Apple’s system status dashboard, the issue began after midnight according to the Indian standard time and went on until around 4:30 AM. Until now, Apple has not provided any concrete response related to the reason behind the outage. Nonetheless, the Cupertino-based giant has suggested that everything has been restored on a global basis. Apple iCloud Outage Affected A Lot Of Users Globally The outage became a reason for the frustration of majority of Apple product users. The problem was first witnessed on DownDetector which is an independent platform that keeps a tab on service interruptions. It showed a spike in user reports related to iCloud outage at around 1:00 AM. During the outage, a majority of users were unable to retrieve files from their iCloud Drive. On the other hand, around six per cent of the total users said that they are not even able to login to their iCloud accounts. Apart from that, the outage also impacted other services like iWork, iCloud Calendar, iCloud Contacts, etc. The outage works as an alarm for the individuals and businesses that rely heavily on cloud based storage services.
