Anbumani criticises DMK government for not appointing assistant professors

PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss slammed the DMK government for ‘digging a grave’ for Higher Education in Tamil Nadu and said that it was not appropriate to boast about higher gross enrolment when the State government had not appointed even a single assistant professor for government colleges for the last four years.

In a statement, he said the State government had appointed principals for 96 government arts and science colleges of the total 180 and had also not filled over 9,000 teaching posts available in these colleges. Mostly guest lecturers taught at government arts and science colleges.

Dr. Anbumani pointed out that the DMK government said around 4,000 new assistant professors would be appointed since the day it was elected. Yet, despite over 9,000 posts falling vacant, it has not made any effort to make appointments, he added.
