Amazon's 'amazing' face mask that 'makes your skin so soft' reduced to £21

Amazon has dropped the price of an “amazing” face mask loved by shoppers, just in time for Prime Day. The massive sale, which runs from July 8 to 11, will see thousands of products discounted – but there are some already reduced in the run up to the event.

The Philosophy purity exfoliating clay mask 75ml is now available at the reduced cost of £21.75, down from the usual £29. The mask doubles as both an “acne treatment mask” due to its salicylic acid content and an “anti-blackhead mask.”

Amazon’s product description reads: “Draw out impurities and shrink the look of pores with purity made simple pore mask for your face.” Amazon shared a step-by-step guide to using the mask, which reads: “Gently massage mask onto clean, dry skin focusing on your t-zone and oily areas. Leave on skin for 5–10 minutes or until the clay is completely dry.

“Rinse with warm water. For deeper exfoliation, increase the massage intensity when applying and while removing with water. Repeat twice a week,” reports the Daily Record.

For those seeking alternatives, FaceTheory is offering the Double Glow Exfoliating Face and Body Scrub for £15. The Beauty of Joseon Ground Rice and Honey Glow Mask is now on LookFantastic for £15.50, while Boots has the No7 Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion Face Exfoliator at just £9.95.

The Purity face mask has been receiving glowing reviews, with a 4.6 star rating online and plenty of customers sharing their positive experiences. One shopper said: “Perfect mask. Works as a delicate scrub and mask at the same time. Amazing product! After the first use, your pores will be clean, the skin is bright and soft.”

Another shopper was just as impressed, writing: “Premium product which delivers first class results. Philosophy purity exfoliating clay mask 75ml acne treatment mask with salicylic acid anti-blackhead is one product that delivers on each promise the manufacturer makes.

“Like all Philosophy products, this is a pure pleasure to use, and I love how I can use it as a mask as well as an exfoliator. It leaves my skin feeling soft, glowing and blemish and blackhead free after continued use and this is one product, I know I will be returning to to repeatedly. I’m happy to recommend it as a premium product which is well worth the money.”

However, not everyone felt justified by the product’s price point, with some critiques appearing online. One consumer said: “There is nothing wrong with this product as such.. it’s easy to apply, you only need a small amount, and it dries very quickly. It leaves your face feeling smooth afterwards.

“However, I have tried plenty of other products which have achieved the same result, but they are much cheaper. This seems as good as any exfoliator or mask, and there’s nothing extra to offer for the increased price.”

A customer commented on the cost of a face mask, saying: “Nice mask but expensive. This face mask is very lovely, it smells citrusy and feels nice on your face; but I can’t get over the price!”

Despite the price tag, the product has garnered positive feedback, with one shopper noting: “Keeps your skin clear. Although this mask is expensive, it does clean out your pores and I feel like using it twice a week would be a good routine for keeping your skin clear.

“I use it mostly on my nose and extend it to my chin and sometimes my forehead, but I don’t tend to use it over my whole face. It’s good it you time washing it off with having a shower as it’s hard to get rid of all the tiny bits with a face cloth, a rinse in the shower seems to work best for me.”

Another satisfied shopper wrote: “I am in love with this mask! I use the Philosophy Purity cleanser and this is a perfect addition to my little Philosophy family. Best exfoliator ever! It’s gentle and easy to use.

“Not too messy since it dries quickly and washes off cleanly. I use it twice a week and I just love the way my face feels afterwards – so clean and soft! It keeps the dead skin cells from clogging up your pores and drying your skin out, so it’s good for you whether your skin is dry or oily. I was blown away the first time I used it and saw that my pores were half the size.

“A small amount goes a long way if you spread it quickly and rub it all over (the massage feels very nice as there are no harsh ingredients to damage your skin). The mask is enriched with White Clay, Salicylic Acid and natural exfoliants to help to draw out dirt and impurities from deep within pores, helping to banish blackheads and prevent future breakouts.”
