Akash Deep gave India the perfect start to Day 5 of the second Test against England of the five-match series for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Sunday.
Akash Deep dismissed Ollie Pope with his first delivery of the day and then trapped Harry Brook in hsi second over.

Akash hit the deck hard, on top of the middle as the ball lifted off the deck and surprised Pope. The England batter brought his bat in front to defend but the ball nipped back in, grazed the back arm of the batter and rolled back onto the stumps.

In his second over, Akash trapped Harry Brook in front of the wickets, that the English batter could not overturn with DRS. He bowled it on a hard length, pitching it outside off and cutting back in very sharply from the crack. Harry Brook was cut into half and cramped up for space. he tried bringing his bat in front to keep the ball out, but played it well outside line as the ball thuded onto the back knee.
What Is Day 5 Schedule After Rain Delay?
Play resumed on Sunday after heavy rain delayed the start of the final day of the second Test between India and England.
The commencement was delayed by nearly two hours, resulting in a loss of 10 overs from the planned 90 overs.
The first session will now be held from 5:10pm to 7:00pm IST, followed by the second session from 7:40pm to 9:40pm. The final session is scheduled from 10:00pm to 11:30pm IST.
India set a formidable target of 608 runs for England, leaving the hosts struggling at 72 for three by the end of play on Saturday.
India need seven wickets to win, while England, known for their willingness to chase targets in the fourth innings of Tests, must adopt an inspired approach with the bat to score the remaining 536 runs for victory.
Akash Deep took two wickets and Mohammed Siraj claimed one in the fourth innings, providing India with key breakthroughs on day four.
