A stubborn labour dispute between the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) and the Service Sector Employers (Palta) is continuing, after another session of unsuccessful negotiations on Tuesday, according to the National Conciliator’s office.
Announcing the development on social media site X on Tuesday afternoon, the office said talks between the parties were scheduled to continue on Thursday.
Members of the union’s airport ground staff are scheduled to strike on Wednesday, prompting Finnair to cancel about 100 flights.
Wednesday’s strike will affect some ground services operations at Helsinki Airport, including baggage handling.
Similar industrial action by the union in recent times has caused the airline to cancel hundreds of flights, in a situation that has affected the travel plans of tens of thousands of passengers.
Including Wednesday’s industrial action, the IAU has issued seven strike warnings for this month on July 4, 7, 16, 18, 21 and 23.
