Choosing the right secondary school for your child is a major decision – one that can shape their academic journey, personal development, and future opportunities.
Helping you get prepared for what’s next, Salford City Academy is hosting its next open evening this autumn. From 4.30pm to 7.30pm on Thursday, October 2, the academy is looking forward to welcoming prospective students and their families.
Whether you’re considering applying or simply curious about the programmes and community, this is the perfect opportunity to get a first-hand look. Tour the school, meet the teachers, sample the food, and take part in exciting activities.
The open evening is open to all current Year 4 and Year 5 children and visiting your child’s potential future school is the best way to experience it first-hand to help you make an informed decision.
Bringing out ‘the best in everyone’
Following the motto ‘The best in everyone’, Salford City Academy strives to do just that.
With a curriculum designed to foster a culture of high achievement and a goal to deliver exceptional education, the academy aims to equip students with ‘powerful knowledge’ and prepare them for future success.
Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, Salford City Academy sits within the top schools in Salford for progress in the DfE’s performance tables. In 2025, students achieved 72% in both English and Maths. The academy is highly ambitious to become one of the highest-performing schools in the Northwest.
SCA not only focuses on academic success but also offers a dynamic character education programme called ASPIRE. Character development is integrated into all aspects of life at SCA and is reflected in its REACT values: Responsibility, Excellence, Aspiration, Commitment, and Teamwork.
Speaking about their child’s time at Salford City Academy, one Year 11 parent (class of 2024) said: ” I am absolutely delighted with the GCSE results. My child has been really well supported throughout and has been given the confidence boost to settle in and realise her potential. I really recommend the school to other parents.”
The SCA way
Salford City Academy believes students learn best in a calm and purposeful environment. The school’s disruption-free behaviour policy ensures teachers can teach with clear and simple systems.
When it comes to the next open evening on October 2, parents and prospective students can expect the same warm welcome they would receive on their first day.
For Year 6 pupils, extra attention is given to ensuring a smooth transition into secondary school through SCA’s unique transition programme. Understanding that Year 6 is both an exciting and daunting time for many primary school children, SCA has a programme of support and events that both parents and children can engage with.
Pioneer Programme
For students who have a keen interest in the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths), the SCA Pioneer Programme offers an accelerated curriculum in STEM subjects. It offers students a wide range of opportunities to participate in STEM educational trips, visits, and events. The latest of which involved Year 7 students taking part in STEM On Track, a programme that empowers students to build, learn, and race their very own kart in a thrilling national schools STEM competition.
Held at the Whilton Mill Karting Circuit in Northampton, the students were supported by local engineering firm Farrat. They took part in the final stage of a 12-month national STEM initiative developed by Espire Education.
Speaking about the exciting opportunity, Andrew Owen, technology teacher at SCA, said: “Delivering the STEM On Track programme this year has been incredibly rewarding. The students’ enthusiasm has been infectious鈥攖hey’ve thrown themselves into every stage of the project, and their knowledge and skills have grown week by week. To finish among the top teams nationally is a fantastic achievement.”
