There are many good reasons to look forward to what June has to offer in Manchester, from Parklife to big gigs at the Co-op Arena and Soccer Aid – to name but a few.
But there are other, smaller pleasures to be had when the sun shines, from sipping a frosty pint in a beer garden to finding the perfect spot to people-watch and see the world go by.

Thanks to the Mirrorpix photo archives, we can look back at what happened in Manchester in June鈥攆rom Royal visits and street parties to the annual taxi convoy or keeping cool at the now-lost Galleon pool in Didsbury.
It’s always interesting to see how much the city has changed, what’s been lost, and the faces of people we may have known many years ago.
So, to celebrate the (hopefully) sunny month of June, we’ve put together a gallery of moments cherry-picked from the 1960s through the 1990s.
Take a look below to see if you remember being part of any of these events or an old familiar face.
