A Minecraft Movie, Lilo & Stitch Beat Mission: Impossible 8 At Box Office

Within just six months of 2025, Hollywood has delivered some major box office hits. From the live-action film Lilo & Stitch to Tom Cruise’s action thriller, Mission: Impossible– The Final Reckoning, which also marked the end of the iconic spy franchise, the first six months of the year have been packed with a series of crowd-pulling films. Check out which Hollywood movies made the biggest box office collection in the first half of 2025.
The first on the list is A Minecraft Movie. Based on the 2011 game Minecraft, the fantasy comedy film, featuring Jason Momoa, Jack Black, and Emma Myers, became a global sensation, which was released on April 4. As per Box Office Mojo by IMDb Pro, A Minecraft Movie raked in a massive $954.44 million worldwide. While it did not cross the $1 billion mark, it still is the highest-grossing film of 2025 in Hollywood, at least for now.
The next on the list is the live-action remake of Disney’s 2002 animated film, Lilo & Stitch, which has achieved a box office collection of over $945 million worldwide. The story followed the life of a young girl and her alien best friend. Maia Kealoha made her acting debut as Lilo, and original Lilo & Stitch writer-director Chris Sanders reprised his voice role as Stitch.
Brad Pitt’s new sports drama F1 The Movie, directed by Joseph Kosinski, has opened with a thunderous response at the box office. With strong opening numbers and positive word-of-mouth, the sports drama is right on track to become one of the highest-grossing films of 2025. If it continues to perform well at the box office, then it is estimated that F1 might earn a whopping $625 million before leaving the theatres. It has the potential to become the third or fourth highest grosser.
This would also place Brad’s movie just behind or above Mission: Impossible– The Final Reckoning, which earned $562 million during its theatrical run. There is a possibility that F1 might also soon cross the collection of How to Train Your Dragon. Released on June 13, the fantasy film has raked in $456 million worldwide. As of now, F1’s earnings stand at $146.3 million, which it earned in just four days of its release.
Among the Top 10 highest-grossing films in the first half of 2025 are MCU’s Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Sinners, Final Destination: Bloodlines and Snow White.
