One year after his passing, the name Barrister Clement Oyedele Akintola-Arikawe continues to open doors and inspire excellence.
On Thursday, July 3, 2025, the grounds of Igbotako Community Grammar School came alive, not in mourning, but in celebration. Students, educators, dignitaries, and family members gathered for a remarkable occasion: the 1st Annual Scholarship and Merit Awards, held in his honour.
It was a living proof to a man who believed deeply in the power of God, hard work, and education, three pillars that shaped both his life and legacy.
In his memory, 20 brilliant students were honoured for their academic achievements, leadership qualities, and outstanding character.
鈥en SS2 students received 鈧100,000 each, alongside certificates and writing kits.
鈥en SS1 students were awarded 鈧50,000 each, with certificates and gift packs.
This was no token gesture. It was the beginning of a tradition. A yearly call to excellence, rooted in the quiet strength and values Barrister Akintola-Arikawe embodied.
But behind every prize and plaque lies a deeper story, the story of a man who lived simply but significantly. A devoted father, a loving husband, and a man of unwavering faith. One who never sought the spotlight, but whose light was impossible to ignore.
鈥淗e walked humbly with God,鈥 his wife, Bolaji, writes in tribute. 鈥淣o drama, no shame, only dignity, prayer, peace, and a legacy that speaks for itself.鈥
For 36 years, she knew him. For 30 years, she stood by him. And now, one year since his passing, that love still echoes in quiet prayers, fond memories, and the lives being changed through this scholarship.
In a world obsessed with loud achievements, Barrister Akintola-Arikawe reminds us that some of the most powerful legacies are built in silence with consistency, conviction, and grace.
As the awards programme came to a close, one message was clear: this was more than a remembrance, it was a resurrection of values, integrity, service, and faith, in the hearts of a new generation.
Indeed, 鈥淭he memory of the just is blessed.鈥 鈥 Proverbs 10:7
