Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus Ramayana has been making buzz for quite a while now. The makers dropped the first glimpse a few days ago. The first look of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Yash as Ravana received huge love from netizens. The first part will be released on Diwali 2026. Now, Dipika Chikhlia, who played Sita in Ramanand Sagar鈥檚 1987 Ramayan, has shared her thoughts on Arun Govil playing Dasharath in Nitesh Tiwari’s film. Now, reacting to the actor’s portrayal of Dasharath in Ramayana, Dipika told Times Of India TV, 鈥淭o see him in a role apart from Ram鈥 I don鈥檛 know, I mean, see 鈥 I have seen him as Ram and I鈥檝e seen myself as Sita. For me to see him as Dasharath is really a little out of context,鈥 Dipika admitted candidly. 鈥淏ut then I guess that鈥檚 really his choice. It鈥檚 very personal as to how people feel. It鈥檚 very difficult to break images. It鈥檚 something I鈥檓 not sure about. If I was doing something in Mahabharat or Shiv Puran, I could still give it a thought, but not in a Ramayana film.鈥 The actress also stated that she was never approached to play any role in the new adaptation, saying, 鈥淚 was never approached. I guess they鈥檝e not even bothered to speak to me about it.鈥 Earlier, in an interview with YouTube channel Join Films, actress Indira Krishnan revealed that she will be seen playing Kaushalya alongside Arun Govil as Dasharath, saying, 鈥淗e actually looks like Dasharath, just like he looked like Ram back in the day. When we were shooting, he would talk about the time when they made Ramayan.鈥 For the unversed, Sai Pallavi is playing Sita in the Namit Malhotra film, whereas Ravie Dubey will be seen as Lakshman in the film.
