After India鈥檚 thumping victory at Edgbaston, Virat Kohli took to social media to laud the team鈥檚 performance, calling it a 鈥済reat victory鈥 and praising Shubman Gill鈥檚 leadership, Siraj and Akash鈥檚 bowling, and the team鈥檚 all-round effort.
Kohli, who stepped away from Test cricket earlier this year, has left a void that鈥檚 still fresh for fans. And as Team India powers ahead in this new phase, the longing to see the former captain back in whites 鈥 especially in English conditions where he has often dominated 鈥 continues to linger.
Virat Kohli took to X to praise the team鈥檚 performance. He wrote, 鈥淕reat victory for India at Edgbaston. Fearless and kept pushing England to the wall. Brilliantly led by Shubman with the bat and in the field and impactful performances from everyone. Special mention to Siraj and Akash for the way they bowled on this pitch.鈥
Television actor Nakuul Mehta echoed what many fans were feeling. Quote-tweeting Kohli, he wrote, 鈥淔eels so strange to see a Kohli tweet like the other retired cricketers. He should/could have been playing and making a pile of runs on these English pitches. Come out of this premature retirement!鈥
In May, Virat Kohli made the announcement that he will be retiring from Test cricket. In the caption, he wrote that although it was a hard decision, he felt now was the right time to step away. Kohli thanked his teammates, fans, and everyone who supported him. He said he will always look back on his Test career with pride and a smile.
鈥淚t鈥檚 been 14 years since I first wore the baggy blue in Test cricket. Honestly, I never imagined the journey this format would take me on. It鈥檚 tested me, shaped me, and taught me lessons I鈥檒l carry for life. There鈥檚 something deeply personal about playing in whites. The quiet grind, the long days, the small moments that no one sees but that stay with you forever,鈥 he wrote.
