'What鈥檚 Truth Social, Never Heard of It': Elon Musk Mocks Donald Trump Over New Party Spat

Hours after Donald Trump bashed Elon Musk and his plans to launch a new political party, the rift between the two widened after the Tesla CEO asserted he had never heard of Truth Social 鈥 the social media platform owned by the US President.
Musk responded to a user who had shared a screengrab of Trump鈥檚 post criticising Elon Musk, referring to him as a 鈥渢rain wreck off the rails鈥.
鈥淲hat鈥檚 Truth Social?鈥 Musk wrote.
In another post, he added, 鈥淣ever heard of it鈥.
Musk announced on Saturday that he is establishing the 鈥楢merica Party鈥 in response to Trump鈥檚 tax cut and spending bill, which Musk said would bankrupt the country.
鈥淲hat the heck was the point of DOGE if he鈥檚 just going to increase the debt by $5 trillion??鈥 Musk wrote on X on Sunday, referring to the government downsizing agency he briefly led.
According to Reuters, critics have said the bill will damage the US economy by significantly adding to the federal budget deficit.
Musk said his new party would in next year鈥檚 midterm elections look to unseat Republican lawmakers in Congress who backed the sweeping measure known as the 鈥渂ig, beautiful bill.鈥
Earlier today, Trump called Elon Musk鈥檚 plans to form a new political party 鈥渞idiculous,鈥 launching new barbs at the tech billionaire and saying the Musk ally he once named to lead NASA would have presented a conflict of interest given Musk鈥檚 business interests in space.
Musk spent millions of dollars underwriting Trump鈥檚 2024 re-election effort and, for a time, regularly showed up at the president鈥檚 side in the White House Oval Office and elsewhere.
Their disagreement over the spending bill led to a falling out that Musk briefly tried unsuccessfully to repair.
Trump has said Musk is unhappy because the measure, which Trump signed into law on Friday, takes away green-energy credits for Tesla鈥檚 electric vehicles.
The President has threatened to pull billions of dollars that Tesla and SpaceX receive in government contracts and subsidies in response to Musk鈥檚 criticism.
