Andhra CM approves proposals for Amaravati development, including land acquisition, sand mining, construction
The decision, taken at the 50th review meeting of the Capital Region Development Authority, marks the return of focus to Amaravati as the seat of governance and growth.
Synopsis: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu approved the acquisition of 20,494 acres of land across Amaravati and Tullur mandals aimed at the revival of Andhra Pradesh鈥檚 capital project. He approved seven proposals intended at the development of the capital region.
In a significant move aimed at the revival of Andhra Pradesh鈥檚 capital project, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu approved the acquisition of 20,494 acres of land across Amaravati and Tullur mandals on Saturday, 5 July.
The decision, taken at the 50th review meeting of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) held at the Chief Minister鈥檚 Undavalli residence, marks the return of focus to Amaravati as the seat of governance and growth.
This fresh wave of approvals, which comes within weeks of Naidu鈥檚 first anniversary of taking office, seeks to fast-track Amaravati鈥檚 development. The meeting was attended by Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana, CRDA Commissioner Vivek Yadav, and other top officials.

Land, construction, mining, culture and roads
A total of seven major proposals were cleared, aimed at creating a livable, investment-friendly capital city.
Acquisition of 20,494 acres of land for the development of the capital city, Amaravati
Call for Request for Proposals (RfPs) for mixed development projects, including a high-density residential zone in the capital
Construction of convention centres near five-star hotels to be built in Amaravati
Permission for sand dredging for ongoing construction work in Amaravati
Approval of land allocation of 65 acres to 16 institutions, including CBI, Zoological Survey of India, Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy, MSK Prasad Cricket Academy and Krishna Institute of Medical Science (KIMS)
Approval of land allotment for the installation of Potti Sriramulu and Alluri Seetharamaraju memorials

At the heart of Saturday鈥檚 meeting was the green light to acquire 20,494 acres spread over four villages in Amaravati mandal and three in Tullur mandal.
To ensure a vibrant urban environment, the CRDA was given approval to invite Request for Proposals (RFPs) for mixed development projects, particularly focused on high-density residential zones. These projects are to be developed across Finance and Sports Cities, including areas like Mandadam, Rayapudi, and Pichukalapalem.
CRDA will also facilitate the construction of four convention centres, each spread across 2.5 acres, in Mandadam, Thulluru, and Lingayapalem. These centres are expected to be built near upcoming five-star hotels and will cater to business summits, cultural events, and international conferences.

Sand dredging gets approval
With major construction work on the horizon, the CRDA received clearance for sand dredging via desilting from the Prakasam Barrage.
An estimated 159.54 lakh cubic meters of sand will be needed over the next two years to meet infrastructure demands, and this measure is expected to ensure a steady supply.
The allotment of 65 acres to 16 prominent institutions is aimed at boosting Amaravati鈥檚 educational, sports, healthcare, and institutional profile.
The CRDA also approved land allotment for memorials dedicated to Potti Sriramulu, the architect of Andhra statehood, and Alluri Seetharamaraju, the legendary freedom fighter. These installations will reflect the region鈥檚 heritage and pride.
Connectivity also received a boost with the approval for a six-lane Road Over Bridge (ROB) on Highway E-15, a key corridor in the capital area. The move is expected to ease transportation and support ongoing construction logistics.
