Hyderabad Traffic: As Hyderabad prepares for the annual Bibi-ka-Alam Muharram procession on 6 July 2025, the city’s Traffic Police have issued a detailed advisory outlining traffic diversions and restrictions to ensure the peaceful and smooth conduct of the religious gathering. The key procession, which will take place between 12:00 PM and 10:00 PM, will impact traffic flow in major areas including the Old City, Chaderghat, Nayapool, Salarjung Museum, and parts of Secunderabad. Commuters are strongly advised to plan their travel accordingly and avoid the procession routes during these hours. Diversions Around Bibi-ka-Alawa and Old CityThe following key routes will be affected: No entry to Bibi-ka-Alawa from Sunargalli ‘T’ Junction — traffic will be redirected towards Dabeerpura Darwaza and Ganga Nagar Nala, Yakutpura. Traffic from Jabbar Hotel will be diverted away from Shaik Faiz Kaman towards Dabeerpura Darwaza or Chanchalguda, based on ground situation. Movement between Ethebar Chowk and Bada Bazar will be blocked and redirected to Kotla Alija or Purani Haveli. Once the procession reaches Ganga Nagar Nala, vehicles from Purani Haveli to Ethebar Chowk will be rerouted via Chatta Bazar, Dabeerpura, or SJ Rotary. Traffic from Moghalpura and Volta Hotel will not be allowed towards Ethebar Chowk, and will be diverted at Bibi Bazar X Roads to Paris Café or Talab Katta. Once the procession moves to Ethebar Chowk, routes from Mitti-ka-Sher and Madina will be closed at Gulzar House. When at Kotla Alija, traffic from Moghalpura Water Tank will be diverted at Hafez Danka Mosque. Traffic heading to Charminar from Shakkerkote will be rerouted at Mitti-ka-Sher, while vehicles at Ethebar Chowk will be sent to Kotla Alija or Purani Haveli. Nayapool to Charminar-bound traffic will be diverted at Madina X Road towards City College. Diversions Around Mir Alam Mandi, Salarjung Museum & Chaderghat Once the procession reaches Mir Alam Mandi, the following changes will be enforced: Traffic from Chaderghat Rotary, Noorkhan Bazar, Salarjung Museum, and Shivaji Bridge will be diverted at Salarjung Rotary. Vehicles from Chaderghat Rotary to Kali Khabar will be redirected to Ranga Mahal or Koti. Movement from Gowliguda or Afzalgunj towards Salarjung/Shivaji Bridge will be pushed back to Gowliguda/Afzalgunj. Entry to SJ Rotary will be restricted once the procession reaches Alawa Sartauq, and traffic from Nayapool to Madina will be diverted. APSRTC and TGSRTC buses will be rerouted through Rang Mahal and Afzalgunj between 10:00 AM and 9:00 PM. Buses on the Kalikabar–Mir Alam Mandi route will be allowed only until the procession crosses. Secunderabad Traffic Restrictions (4:00 PM to 8:30 PM) In Secunderabad, temporary diversions will be in place as follows: Traffic from Tank Bund to Karbala Maidan will be diverted at Children’s Park towards Kavadiguda, Bible House, and R.P. Road. From R.P. Road to Karbala Maidan, vehicles will be diverted near Bible House via Kavadiguda X Roads. M.G. Road between Central Telegraph Island and Ranigunj will be made one-way towards Ranigunj, with possible diversions at Ranigunj Junction to KIMS Hospital. Public AdvisoryThe Hyderabad Traffic Police has appealed to the public for cooperation during the procession hours and urges commuters to avoid high-congestion areas.
